NYC Train Safety with Upcoming Changes

acceladmin   July 7, 2017   Comments Off on NYC Train Safety with Upcoming Changes

All New Yorkers and those who work in New York City know that the train system always seems to have delays. With repairs beginning on Penn Station this week, the 600,000 daily commuters into the station may be facing some delays. These emergency repairs were deemed necessary after two derailments recently put the lives of commuters in danger.

Train passengers who were involved in any of the train derailments may be facing injuries as a result of the derailment. Some passengers may have instantaneously been made aware of their injuries but for other passengers, injuries may not be known until later on. In the most recent derailment, no passengers appeared to be injured. Amtrak trains and tracks that may be subject to derailments have undergone some construction but may still need further repairs.

It is important that passengers who rely on trains to and from New York’s Penn Station are aware of their surroundings and may even want to consider finding another way to commute. In fact, both New Jersey Transit and the LIRR are taking measures to allow commuters other options. Some commuters are opting for buses, ferries, and are switching train lines in other locations. Those who will still be taking the most highly impacted trains will be granted fare discounts for the inconvenience.

If you have been injured in an accident on New York City’s public transportation system, it is important that you have an experienced personal injury attorney who can assist you through the legal process.
